The History of the Enderman

Is It a Good Idea to Attack the Enderman?

There are different ways to approach an encounter with an Enderman.

First, note that they can inflict from 2 hearts of damage up to 5 hearts of damage, so this is not your usual easy-to-kill zombie or pigling.

Now, there are three things that a player should never do if they want to avoid getting into trouble with Endermen:

1. Don’t look them straight in the eyes. Eye contact with an Enderman = really bad idea.

2. Don’t get too close, unless the player actually wants to hit the Enderman.

3. Don’t use ranged weapons against them - it won’t do anything.

Now, there’s another interesting thing about these mobs: they can move blocks. Usually, an Enderman will carry just one block. They can also move cacti blocks, but it is safe to mention that their block movement it’s an entirely random process.

How to Protect Yourself Against the Enderman

There are different methods to protect yourself once an Enderman hits you.

If you see some purple particles around, but you don’t see anyone, the Enderman might be just teleporting. Purple particles are a sign that you should look around you.

Nevertheless, if the fight is inevitable, you’ll see the scary Enderman approaching you with an open mouth and a block in his hand.

3 methods to defend yourself from an Enderman

1. Water: Endermen hate water. What’s more, they are damaged just by touching a water block or rain. We recommend you to stand in a pool - this way, this mob won’t have a chance against you!

   

2. Use a shield to block Enderman attacks, and don’t forget to bring your best sword to combat. **Remember - DO NOT USE RANGED WEAPONS!

3. Wear a carved pumpkin: having carved pumpkins in your head will allow you to stare at Endermen without provoking them. Still, this is not the best way to fight since your field of vision will be blocked.
