How Does Tree Growth Work in Minecraft?

Most trees in Minecraft are planted similarly, and some others will need special harvesting techniques in order to reach full maturity.

As you might have realized, the Overworld is full of many different trees.

As it happens in real life, trees require sunlight, water, Minecraft fertilizer, and other necessities.

It is advisable to place your sapling around enough space and near a good light source in order to increase growth.

Nevertheless, whether you play Java or Bedrock Edition, you will realize that trees will grow even if left unattended.

If trees lack any primordial three necessities, then they won’t grow efficiently.

Some are small trees, and others grow tall - it depends on the tree type.

Types of Trees in Minecraft

Using an item called Bonemeal is actually an easy solution for your trees to grow faster. So, get yourself some bone meal, and let’s do it.

Step 1: Obtain Bone Meals

There are two ways to make bone meal. The first one consists of using a bone from a defeated mob, and putting it on the center block of the crafting table.

The second one is similar, but instead of using a simple bone, you need to use a bone block.

Bone meal isn’t really that easy to get, so you can learn more about it here: Bone Meal in Minecraft.

Step 2: Select the Ground to Plant Your Saplings

Planting saplings require you to have general knowledge about the ground first.

You are not going to plant trees in the desert or the Nether, right?

Well, saplings grow faster if they have their necessities covered.

If you plant more saplings, you will increase the chances of having more healthy trees.

Step 3: Apply Bone Meal Non-Stop

After planting the sapling, just put bone meal on it using your right-click mouse button (PC version).

Once the saplings get fertilized with the bone meal, you will see that their growth rate will exponentially increase.

It isn’t cheap, but it is your best shot.

2. Use Minecraft Commands

The next alternative consists of using commands. Clearly, you must have cheats enabled in order to do so.
