What Are Fire Resistance Potions For?
Fire Resistance Potions are pretty self-explanatory: b
The fire resistance effect provided by these potions usually lasts for three minutes, but players can increase the fire damage protection duration up to eight minutes by adding Redstone dust to the recipe.
In order to make a fire resistance potion, players need to brew it in a Brewing Station.
Other potions, such as the Potion of Weakness and the Potion of Night Vision, can also be created in the same way as Fire Resistance in Minecraft.
How to Make a Fire Resistance Potion in Minecraft
Now, if you want to get the status effect provided by a potion of Fire Resistance, then you will need to grind for a while.
Brewing potions is often not as easy as it sounds.
Worry not - if you follow these steps, you’ll be enjoying your potion of Fire Resistance sooner than later.
Step 1: Craft a Brewing Stand
The Crafting Table is the keystone of Minecraft. It doesn’t matter if you play on Bedrock or Java Edition - you need a Crafting Table like it or not.
You just can’t avoid using the crafting interface!
Nevertheless, when it comes to brewing potions, then you need a Brewing Stand.
The brewing process is a little more advanced than the crafting process, but it can be achieved either way.
Pro Tip
You will need blaze rods and cobblestone to make a Brewing Stand in Minecraft.
Blaze rod isn’t easy to find, but once you understand how the recipe works, you’ll be able to make any potion you want ASAP. Read our related article to learn more.
Step 2: Go to the Nether Dimension
Once you have your Brewing Station set and ready to go, you now need to go to the Nether.
The Nether is full of endless lakes of lava and enemies trying to kill you.
Find a Nether Portal and cross through it - be prepared for what’s coming.
This potion of Fire Resistance better is worth it, right?!
Step 3: Find a Nether Fortress
Nether Fortresses are huge constructions in Minecraft that are full of blazes, cubes, and other aggressive mobs.
You need to find a fortress because, unfortunately, the only way to brew the potion of Fire Resistance is by killing dangerous lava mobs.
Step 4: Collect the Following Ingredients
In the Fortress, you will need to collect the following three vital ingredients:
- One Magma Cream: You need to fight against Magma Cubes for them to drop Minecraft Magma Cream. Be sure to take your Crossbow with you!;
- Blaze Powder: It’s necessary to kill more than one blaze rod to get the needed Blaze Powder, which will be used in the Brewing Stand as fuel. Be prepared to fight a Blaze!;
- Nether Wart: You’ll need just one Nether Wart, and you can find it exploring around places where soul sand and red fungus growing on the ground can be easily visible.
It won’t be easy to find all these ingredients, but it’s fundamental for your adventure.
Step 5: Go to the Brewing Stand Interface
Now that you have the required materials from the Nether, you first need to craft a glass bottle.
Glass bottles can be crafted using three pieces of glass of the Crafting Table: one in the upper middle slot, one in the left slot, and one in the right slot.
Nonetheless, the glass bottle needs to be turned into a water bottle.
You can make water bottles if you fill the empty bottles in a water source, such as a river.
Let’s take a look at all the ingredients to brew the potion once again:
- A water bottle;
- A brewing Stand;
- Blaze Powder;
- Magma Cream;
- and Nether Wart.
Step 6: Brew an Awkward Potion
As we mentioned before, you need Blaze Powder to brew a potion because it serves as fuel.
Therefore, put the Powder in the Brewing Stand and place one bottle of water on one of the bottom three boxes.
Then, put the Wart on the top box.
You’ll see how the process has started, but you are not done yet - this will create an awkward potion.
Awkward Potions are the main ingredient of all major potions in Minecraft.
If you fill an awkward potion with other ingredients, then it will turn into whatever you want.
Step 7: Finish the Potion of Fire resistance!
Place the Awkward Potion in the Stand, fuel the Brewing Menu with Blaze Powder, and now, put the Magma Cream in the top slot.
You’ll see how the Magma Cream slowly reaches the potion below, which will turn it into a Potion of Fire Resistance.
Now, wait for the drinking animation to be over and you’ll be enjoying protection against fire damage in Minecraft!
Alternatively, you might as well add gunpowder to the recipe if you want to be able to throw the potion against enemies, but in this case, this isn’t recommended.
